“Inner Worlds” turns towards what moves beneath the surface: subtle emotions, tensions and changing colours of sound. Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen move between fantasy, lightness and inner unrest, while Rebecca Clarke’s Dumka combines lyrical writing with striking folkloric contrasts. Martinů’s Three Madrigals create a virtuosic dialogue between violin and viola, before Brahms’ Trio Op. 40 brings the programme to a deeply expressive conclusion.
