HfMDK, Großer Saal; Eschersheimer Landstraße 29, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
For 20 years now, the HfMDK and the Hindemith Institute Frankfurt have jointly organized a concert at the HfMDK on the occasion of Hindemith’s birthday, featuring students and faculty members.
This year, two compositions from 1922 will be contrasted with works Hindemith wrote in 1948. Expressionist and New Objectivity elements of the early Weimar Republic meet compositions of the experienced musician, who still worked with contrapuntal textures and baroque forms. Yet these can no longer be interpreted as a mere return to baroque models, but rather as essential individual features of Paul Hindemith’s highly developed musical language.
A cooperative event of the HfMDK and the Hindemith Institute Frankfurt as part of the “Hindemith Days 2025.”
