Anastasia Kobekina is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding cellists of her generation, known for her powerful technique, lyrical phrasing and natural stage presence. Born in Russia and trained in Germany and France, she plays on a 1698 Stradivari cello generously loaned by the Stradivari‑Stiftung Habisreutinger, and has performed at major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Vienna, Wigmore Hall and the Verbier Festival.
For this concert, Kobekina joins violinists Marie Helling and Maxim Tzekov, violist Arcan İsenkul and cellist Ángela Aguareles. Together they form a richly textured chamber ensemble, presenting works by composers such as Brahms and Schubert arranged for quintet. The evening offers audiences a rare opportunity to hear world‑class musicians from different backgrounds engaging in close musical dialogue.
As Arcan İsenkul, performing alongside such an internationally acclaimed cellist feels like a natural step in a journey that started with early classical training and later expanded into solo and chamber projects. Being part of this kind of ensemble – at once technically demanding and emotionally nuanced – also reflects the value of artistic collaboration across instruments and generations.
The concert takes place on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the historic Klosterkirche Bordesholm. The program features Franz Schubert's monumental String Quintet in C major D 956 and Reinhold Gliere's String Quintet in A major Op. 39 – masterpieces that showcase the full expressive range of the string quintet.
